R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Chief Justice Sherry Radack retired from the First
  Court of Appeals in Texas on December 31, 2022, concluding a
  distinguished tenure that spanned more than two decades; and
         WHEREAS, This esteemed jurist joined the First District Court
  of Appeals in 2001 as a justice; she was appointed chief justice of
  the court the following year, and she was elected chief justice by
  popular vote in 2004; before taking the bench, she was employed as a
  civil trial lawyer with Bracewell & Patterson in Houston, and she
  served as a civil district judge in Harris County from 1998 to 2001;
  and
         WHEREAS, Active in her professional community, Chief Justice
  Radack has served as president of the Council of Chief Judges of the
  State Courts of Appeal and on the boards of the Texas Judicial
  Council, the Texas Indigent Defense Commission, and the State Bar
  of Texas Appellate Section, among other groups; moreover, she has
  contributed her time and talents to the University of St. Thomas,
  the American Diabetes Association, and the Westland YMCA; and
         WHEREAS, An alumna of Rice University, Chief Justice Radack
  taught middle-school Spanish and French in the Houston area before
  enrolling at the University of Houston Law Center; she also owned
  and operated retail stores in Texas and Oklahoma during the 1970s;
  and
         WHEREAS, Sherry Radack's dedication, integrity, and
  commitment to the law have greatly benefited the work of the First
  Court of Appeals in Texas and earned her the respect and admiration
  of her peers, and she may indeed reflect with pride on her service
  as she embarks on the next exciting chapter of her life; now,
  therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate Sherry Radack on her retirement as
  chief justice of the First Court of Appeals in Texas and extend to
  her sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Chief Justice Radack as an expression of high regard by
  the Texas House of Representatives.
