R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, In their inaugural season of competition, members of |
|
|
the boys' and girls' swim teams from East Chambers High School in |
|
|
Winnie distinguished themselves with their fine showing at the 2023 |
|
|
University Interscholastic League District 10-4A Championship; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Competing in Beaumont on January 21, the Buccaneer |
|
|
swimmers turned in a strong performance at the program's first |
|
|
district meet; the boys' team was paced in the individual events by |
|
|
Brandt Meaux, who picked up gold medals in the 100-yard butterfly |
|
|
and 500-yard freestyle; Reid Todd captured the gold in the 50-yard |
|
|
freestyle and silver in the 100-yard backstroke competitions, and |
|
|
Hayden LaVeck earned top honors in the 200-yard freestyle and |
|
|
claimed the silver medal in the 100-yard freestyle; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, The East Chambers boys' team performed especially |
|
|
well in the relay events, with the 200-yard medley and 200-yard |
|
|
freestyle squads each taking first place; moreover, Matthew Reddell |
|
|
finished fourth in the 100-yard freestyle, and Garrett Reves was |
|
|
sixth in the 50-yard freestyle; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, The Buccaneers girls' team was represented at the |
|
|
district competition by Celia Valenzuela Ranz, who secured fifth |
|
|
place in both the 50-yard freestyle and 100-yard freestyle, and by |
|
|
Mallory Kahla, who finished in 11th place in the 50-yard freestyle |
|
|
and in eighth place in the 100-yard freestyle; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Through their hard work and dedication, the members |
|
|
of the Buccaneers swim teams have brought great credit to their |
|
|
school and their community, and they may indeed take pride in their |
|
|
achievements; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby congratulate the East Chambers High School boys' |
|
|
and girls' swim teams on their performance at the 2023 UIL District |
|
|
10-4A Championship and extend to them sincere best wishes for the |
|
|
future; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for the Buccaneers as an expression of high regard by the |
|
|
Texas House of Representatives. |
