R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, Lynn Moak has demonstrated an outstanding |
|
commitment to improving public education in Texas, and he is indeed |
|
deserving of special recognition for his many contributions; and |
|
WHEREAS, Mr. Moak enjoyed a rewarding career as a managing |
|
partner of public school consulting firm Moak Casey that spanned 24 |
|
years before his retirement in 2022, and he continues to serve the |
|
organization as a consultant; over the course of his tenure with the |
|
firm, he has played an instrumental role in numerous education |
|
finance policy changes and has developed research for major cases |
|
involving public school finance; and |
|
WHEREAS, Respected in his profession, Mr. Moak has held |
|
senior staff positions with the Texas Education Agency, the Texas |
|
State Comptroller's Office, and the Texas Lieutenant Governor's |
|
Office; he has served on the boards of the National Education |
|
Finance Academy and the Association for Education Finance and |
|
Policy and been involved with the Government Finance Officers |
|
Association, the Association of School Business Officials, and the |
|
American Educational Research Association; in addition, he has been |
|
a member of the Paramount Theatre advisory council and the Lady Bird |
|
Johnson Wildflower Center's Lady Bird Society; among his honors, he |
|
has received a NEFA Lifetime Achievement Award and a Region 4 |
|
Education Service Center Superintendent's Award; and |
|
WHEREAS, Mr. Moak holds a bachelor's degree from The |
|
University of Texas at Austin, where he also pursued graduate |
|
studies; and |
|
WHEREAS, Public education is an endeavor of vital importance |
|
to the continued prosperity of the Lone Star State, and through his |
|
wide-ranging expertise in finance and public policy, Lynn Moak has |
|
made valuable contributions to school districts all across Texas; |
|
now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas |
|
Legislature hereby commend Lynn Moak for his efforts to further |
|
public education in Texas and extend to him sincere best wishes for |
|
the future; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for Mr. Moak as an expression of high regard by the Texas |
|
House of Representatives. |
