R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Mario Delgado, Jaime Acosta, and David Acosta of the
  original Baytown Hawks softball team were honored with induction
  into the Fast Pitch Legends Hall of Fame of the Greater Houston Area
  on January 28, 2023; and
         WHEREAS, The Fast Pitch Legends Hall of Fame recognizes the
  players, teams, umpires, sponsors, commissioners, and media who
  have made significant contributions to fast-pitch softball since
  the sport was first popularized by men's and women's leagues in the
  U.S. during the 1930s and 1940s; and
         WHEREAS, In high school, Mario "Crash" Delgado and Jaime
  "Wheel" Acosta were members of the Baytown Lee High School baseball
  team, and Mr. Acosta subsequently played baseball and football for
  New Mexico State University; his brother, David Acosta, was a
  member of the Ross S. Sterling High School baseball squad and was
  awarded a scholarship to compete for Sam Houston State University;
  and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Delgado and the Acosta brothers went on to excel
  as members of the original Baytown softball team that gained renown
  across the Lone Star State and beyond during the 1960s and 1970s;
  the trio helped the Hawks claim the Houston Metro City
  championship, and they competed in such high-profile events as the
  ISC World and Regional Tournaments, Texas ASA State Tournaments,
  the Wichita Falls Classic, and the Houston Open as well as at events
  in Mexico; and
         WHEREAS, Through their remarkable success on the softball
  diamond, Mario Delgado, Jaime Acosta, and David Acosta
  distinguished themselves as elite fast-pitch players, and they are
  indeed deserving of this prestigious honor; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate Mario Delgado, Jaime Acosta, and
  David Acosta on their induction into the Fast Pitch Legends Hall of
  Fame of the Greater Houston Area and extend to them sincere best
  wishes for the future; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That official copies of this resolution be prepared
  for the honorees as an expression of high regard by the Texas House
  of Representatives.
