R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, Tom S. Ramsey is being honored as the Houston Area |
|
|
Engineer of the Year at a gala event on February 24, 2023, as part of |
|
|
Houston Engineers Week; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, A graduate of Texas A&M University, Mr. Ramsey |
|
|
became a licensed professional engineer in 1979, and over the |
|
|
course of his exemplary career, he has provided engineering |
|
|
solutions for more than 50 cities and 20 counties in Texas; highly |
|
|
esteemed in his field, he has held leadership positions with a |
|
|
number of professional organizations, among them the American |
|
|
Public Works Association, the American Society of Civil Engineers, |
|
|
and the National Society of Professional Engineers; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Mr. Ramsey is the former mayor of Spring Valley |
|
|
Village, and he currently serves as Harris County Commissioner for |
|
|
Precinct 3; his accolades include the Young Engineer of the Year |
|
|
award from the Houston Chapter of the Texas Society of Professional |
|
|
Engineers, the Outstanding Young Houstonian award from the Houston |
|
|
Junior Chamber of Commerce, and the Public Official of the Year |
|
|
award from the University of Houston; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, In all his endeavors, Mr. Ramsey enjoys the love and |
|
|
support of a fine family that includes his wife, Marsha, and their |
|
|
three children and seven grandchildren; a man of faith, he is an |
|
|
active congregant of Second Baptist Church as well as a member of |
|
|
the Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary Advisory Board; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Tom Ramsey's dedication, expertise, and commitment |
|
|
to excellence have greatly benefited his fellow Texans and earned |
|
|
him the respect and admiration of his peers, and he may indeed |
|
|
reflect with pride on his accomplishments as he accepts this |
|
|
prestigious award; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby congratulate Tom S. Ramsey on his selection as |
|
|
the 2023 Houston Area Engineer of the Year and extend to him sincere |
|
|
best wishes for the future; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for Mr. Ramsey as an expression of high regard by the Texas |
|
|
House of Representatives. |
