R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, For nearly two decades, members of the Dallas
  Everest Lions Club have made important contributions to their
  community; and
         WHEREAS, Established in 2003, the Dallas Everest Lions Club
  is the first predominantly Nepalese Lions Club chapter in the
  country, and over the years, the group has become a platform for
  networking and cultural exchange with the wider community; today,
  the club boasts 108 active members, several of whom have held
  leadership roles at the district level of the organization; in
  addition, DELC has helped to establish a number of other Lions Club
  chapters in the Dallas area and beyond; and
         WHEREAS, The members of DELC take part in a variety of
  activities benefiting their community, including holding regular
  health fairs to screen for diabetes, hypertension, and obesity,
  environmental cleanup projects, food drives, cultural events, and
  youth tutoring programs; moreover, the group provides free
  eyeglasses to school children and needy adults as well as
  scholarships and disaster assistance around the world; and
         WHEREAS, Since its inception, the Dallas Everest Lions Club
  has played a vital role in the community, and its members'
  willingness to give of their time and talents sets an outstanding
  example of civic engagement; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas
  Legislature hereby commend the Dallas Everest Lions Club for its
  many years of service and extend to all those associated with the
  group sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for the organization as an expression of high regard by the
  Texas House of Representatives.
