R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, Oil City Iron Works was named the Small Employer of |
|
the Year by Workforce Solutions for North Central Texas at the |
|
organization's 26th Annual Awards of Excellence on January 25, |
|
2023; and |
|
WHEREAS, Every year, Workforce Solutions for North Central |
|
Texas recognizes partners that have gone above and beyond to serve |
|
customers in the organization's 14-county service area; the Small |
|
Employer of the Year award highlights a private-sector employer |
|
with fewer than 500 employees that has taken initiatives benefiting |
|
current and future workers and individuals with challenges that |
|
make entering the workforce difficult; and |
|
WHEREAS, Oil City Iron Works traces its origins back to 1866, |
|
when the original machine shop and foundry was established in |
|
Corsicana; the company initially produced parts for cotton gins, |
|
brick presses, and castings for the building industry, but it has |
|
since diversified its line of products to include valves, pumps, |
|
gas turbine and compression parts, and mining and oilfield |
|
equipment; the business took on its current name in 1898 in |
|
recognition of the oil boom that was happening in Corsicana at the |
|
time; and |
|
WHEREAS, Through its exceptional efforts, Oil City Iron Works |
|
has made important contributions to the vitality and prosperity of |
|
North Central Texas, and it is indeed deserving of this most recent |
|
honor; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas |
|
Legislature hereby congratulate Oil City Iron Works on being named |
|
the Small Employer of the Year by Workforce Solutions for North |
|
Central Texas and extend to all those associated with the company |
|
sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for Oil City Iron Works as an expression of high regard by |
|
the Texas House of Representatives. |
