R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, A full and generous life drew to a close with the |
|
|
passing of Nancy Ann Smith Williams of Temple on January 6, 2023, at |
|
|
the age of 89; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, The former Nancy Smith was born to Edward and Stella |
|
|
Smith in Marshall on November 8, 1933, and she grew up with three |
|
|
older siblings, Arthur, Bobby, and Julia Martha; on December 18, |
|
|
1955, she married her junior high school sweetheart, David Lewis |
|
|
Williams, with whom she shared a fulfilling union that spanned 54 |
|
|
years until his passing in 2010; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Mrs. Williams enjoyed a rewarding career as a legal |
|
|
secretary with the Harrison County district attorney, and in 1985 |
|
|
she became a federal court clerk; active in her community, she gave |
|
|
generously of her time and talents to such organizations as March of |
|
|
Dimes, the Harrison County MHMR Sheltered Workshop, Camp Fire |
|
|
Girls, and Boy Scouts; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, This beloved woman was a devoted mother to 5 |
|
|
children, Tommy, Kay, Danny, Laura, and Edward, and with the |
|
|
passing years, she had the pleasure of seeing her family grow to |
|
|
include 7 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Although Nancy Williams will be greatly missed, she |
|
|
has left her family with a wealth of treasured memories, and they |
|
|
will always hold her close in their hearts; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Nancy Ann Smith |
|
|
Williams and extend sincere condolences to the members of her |
|
|
family: to her children, Tommy Williams and his wife, Marsha, Kay |
|
|
Lynch and her husband, Mike, Danny Williams and his wife, Margaret, |
|
|
Laura Shepperd and her husband, Leroy, and Edward Williams; to her |
|
|
grandchildren, Paul Williams and his wife, Michelle, Mark Williams |
|
|
and his wife, Whitney, Claire Lynch, Philip Lynch, David Williams, |
|
|
Mary Margaret Williams, Jarrod Shepperd and his wife, Marlie, Alli |
|
|
Munden and her husband, Jack, and Matthew Shepperd; to her |
|
|
great-grandchildren, George, Thomas, Molly, Emma, Hill, Hobbs, |
|
|
Walter, Brock, Harper, Beau, and Walker; and to her other relatives |
|
|
and friends; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for her family and that when the Texas House of |
|
|
Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Nancy |
|
|
Williams. |
