R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Dr. Cheryl Jackson has made a meaningful difference
  in the lives of countless individuals through her work as founder of
  Minnie's Food Pantry in Plano; and
         WHEREAS, Dr. Jackson established Minnie's Food Pantry on
  April 1, 2008, and named the organization after her mother, the late
  Dr. Minnie Hawthorne-Ewing, who shared her commitment to community
  service; under Dr. Jackson's guidance, Minnie's Food Pantry has
  provided more than 21 million healthy meals to families in need, and
  its success over the past 15 years has led to its expansion to 12
  locations in Texas, as well as to New York and Pennsylvania; today,
  it is one of the largest food pantries in North Texas, and it holds a
  platinum rating from GuideStar, the highest level of recognition
  awarded by the charity evaluating service; and
         WHEREAS, In addition to overseeing Minnie's Food Pantry,
  Dr. Jackson has given back to her community through her involvement
  in the Plano Chamber of Commerce, which named her president of its
  Women's Division in 2021; she has received numerous honors from
  local organizations, including McKinney ISD's SEAS Initiative
  Difference Maker Award in 2022; she has also garnered praise from
  national media outlets like HuffPost and Good Morning America, and
  she has made frequent appearances as a keynote speaker to raise
  awareness of hunger in America; and
         WHEREAS, Dr. Cheryl Jackson has set an inspiring example of
  the good that one caring individual can accomplish, and it is a
  pleasure to join in commending this truly remarkable Texan; now,
  therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas
  Legislature hereby honor Dr. Cheryl Jackson for her outstanding
  work as the founder of Minnie's Food Pantry and extend to her
  sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Dr. Jackson as an expression of high regard by the
  Texas House of Representatives.
