R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, Georgetown Police Chief Cory Tchida received the |
|
Citizen of the Year award from the Georgetown Chamber of Commerce |
|
during its annual gala on January 26, 2023; and |
|
WHEREAS, Each year, the chamber recognizes individuals and |
|
businesses for their outstanding achievements and for their efforts |
|
to benefit the local community; and |
|
WHEREAS, Cory Tchida has served as Georgetown police chief |
|
since June 2022, when he was promoted from interim chief; a member |
|
of the Georgetown Police Department for more than a quarter |
|
century, he began his career as a patrol officer and spent a decade |
|
working as a sergeant, with oversight of patrol, training, traffic, |
|
and narcotics; he subsequently became lieutenant of patrol and |
|
administration and assisted in the restructuring of the |
|
department's firearms training program; and |
|
WHEREAS, Highly respected for his exceptional leadership and |
|
community-building skills, Chief Tchida has garnered numerous |
|
accolades, including the 2015 Georgetown Police Chief's Award and |
|
the 2013 City of Georgetown's Manager of the Year Award; he has |
|
further distinguished himself through his active involvement in the |
|
wider community and has made presentations to Citizen Police |
|
Academy classes, citizens' groups, and fellow peace officers; |
|
moreover, he is a longtime board member of Court Appointed Special |
|
Advocates of Williamson County; he holds a bachelor's degree from |
|
The University of Texas and a master's degree in criminal justice |
|
leadership and management from Sam Houston State University, and he |
|
is a graduate of Northwestern University's School of Police Staff |
|
and Command and of the FBI National Academy; and |
|
WHEREAS, Cory Tchida has demonstrated a lasting commitment to |
|
making Georgetown a better place for all, and in so doing, he has |
|
earned the deep respect and appreciation of his fellow residents; |
|
now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas |
|
Legislature hereby congratulate Chief Cory Tchida on his receipt of |
|
the 2022 Citizen of the Year award from the Georgetown Chamber of |
|
Commerce and extend to him sincere best wishes for continued |
|
success; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for Chief Tchida as an expression of high regard by the |
|
Texas House of Representatives. |
