R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Clifford R. Shaw is concluding his dedicated service
  as a member of the Cedar Hill City Council in May 2023; and
         WHEREAS, Clifford Shaw first joined the council in 1998 as
  the Place 6 representative, and he has since helped guide the city
  through a period of significant growth and economic expansion;
  throughout his time in office, he has worked to strengthen the
  community's focus on neighborhood engagement and beautification
  and championed parks, recreation, and open space; among his many
  accomplishments, he played an instrumental role in the development
  of a number of public facilities, including Valley Ridge Park, the
  Alan E. Sims Cedar Hill Recreation Center, and the Cedar Hill
  Government Center; and
         WHEREAS, A committed champion of his community, Mr. Shaw is a
  longtime advocate for African American representation and
  participation in city government and the school district; he helped
  found the organization, Diversity and Equality in Cedar Hill, which
  assisted in electing Cedar Hills's first African American council
  member in 1995; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Shaw holds a bachelor's degree in electrical
  engineering from Prairie View A&M University and works as a system
  engineer for Defense Contract Management Agency Lockheed Martin; he
  is the proud father of three children, La'Katheryn, LaKandice, and
  Clifford, all of whom graduated from schools in the Cedar Hill
  Independent School District; and
         WHEREAS, Clifford Shaw has made many important contributions
  to the Cedar Hill community over the course of his tenure with the
  city council, and he has earned the admiration and appreciation of
  his fellow citizens; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate Clifford R. Shaw on his retirement
  from the Cedar Hill City Council and extend to him sincere best
  wishes for the future; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Mr. Shaw as an expression of high regard by the Texas
  House of Representatives.
