R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, Members of the Texas Nurses Association and other |
|
nursing organizations are gathering in Austin on February 28, 2023, |
|
for Nurse Day at the State Capitol; and |
|
WHEREAS, Approximately 400,000 certified nursing assistants, |
|
licensed vocational nurses, registered nurses, and advanced |
|
practice registered nurses care for Texans each day in hospitals, |
|
nursing homes, home health agencies, and other settings, and their |
|
work is vital to the quality of health care in the state; and |
|
WHEREAS, Nurses have bravely served on the front lines during |
|
the COVID-19 pandemic and protected the health of Texans, often |
|
putting their own safety in jeopardy; and |
|
WHEREAS, Nurses are consistently rated by the Gallup Poll |
|
each year as the highest-ranked professionals for honesty and |
|
ethical standards, and across the profession, they share a mission |
|
for promoting excellence in patient care, both at the bedside and in |
|
the public arena; and |
|
WHEREAS, Through their deep commitment to the health and |
|
well-being of their patients and their advocacy on behalf of |
|
quality health care, Texas nurses have earned the lasting respect, |
|
admiration, and appreciation of their fellow citizens; now, |
|
therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas |
|
Legislature hereby recognize February 28, 2023, as Nurse Day at the |
|
State Capitol and commend all nurses for their invaluable service |
|
to the Lone Star State. |
