R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, The Texas Department of Transportation recognized |
|
|
Duncan Webb with its prestigious Road Hand Award in January 2023; |
|
|
and |
|
|
WHEREAS, One of the highest honors bestowed by TxDOT, the |
|
|
Road Hand Award was created in 1973 and is given to those |
|
|
individuals who support and have led transportation projects and |
|
|
programs that have impacted their communities; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Mr. Webb has served as Collin County commissioner |
|
|
for Precinct 4 since 2011; in this position, he has played a key |
|
|
role in transportation planning for the quickly growing region; he |
|
|
has spearheaded two long-range studies to better understand the |
|
|
highway and transit needs of the county and his leadership has been |
|
|
integral to the county securing more than $600 million for new |
|
|
limited-access roadways; moreover, he has served as chair of the |
|
|
Regional Transportation Council and the Dallas Regional Mobility |
|
|
Coalition, and he has partnered with TxDOT on successful planning |
|
|
efforts along U.S. 380 and other corridors; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, A Dallas native, Mr. Webb has been a resident of |
|
|
Plano since 1983; he holds both a bachelor's and a doctor of |
|
|
jurisprudence degree from Southern Methodist University and is the |
|
|
founder of Webb & Webb law firm; over the years, he has lent his time |
|
|
and expertise to such professional organizations as the Collin |
|
|
County Bench Bar Foundation, Dallas Estate Planning Council, and |
|
|
District 1A Grievance Committee of the State Bar of Texas; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Engaged in his community, Mr. Webb previously |
|
|
served four terms on the Plano Independent School District Board of |
|
|
Trustees, and he has held membership in numerous area |
|
|
organizations, including Medical City Plano, the Assistance Center |
|
|
of Collin County, the Plano Family YMCA, and the Plano Metro Rotary |
|
|
Club; in 2020, he received the Distinguished Leadership Award from |
|
|
the Plano Chamber of Commerce and Leadership Plano; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, In all his endeavors, Mr. Webb has enjoyed the love |
|
|
and support of his wife, Beth, and their daughters, Heather and |
|
|
Melissa; the family was honored by the Plano Family YMCA as the 1997 |
|
|
Family of the Year, and the Plano Chamber of Commerce selected |
|
|
Mr. Webb and his wife as its 2008 Citizens of the Year; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Throughout his notable career, Duncan Webb has |
|
|
distinguished himself as an able leader and dedicated public |
|
|
servant, and he may indeed reflect with pride on his many |
|
|
accomplishments; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby congratulate Collin County commissioner Duncan |
|
|
Webb on his receipt of a 2023 Road Hand Award from the Texas |
|
|
Department of Transportation and extend to him sincere best wishes |
|
|
for the future; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for Mr. Webb as an expression of high regard by the Texas |
|
|
House of Representatives. |
