R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, Members of United Way organizations in Texas are |
|
celebrating the 20th anniversary of 2-1-1 Texas in 2023; and |
|
WHEREAS, A public-private partnership overseen by the Texas |
|
Health and Human Services Commission, 2-1-1 Texas operates 25 area |
|
information centers, 12 of which are managed by local United Ways; |
|
this 24/7 statewide information hotline plays a crucial part in |
|
helping nonprofits, state leaders, and other stakeholders to |
|
understand the needs of their communities and in connecting |
|
individuals with local resources; and |
|
WHEREAS, The more than 60 local United Way organizations in |
|
Texas work to improve quality of life and strengthen communities |
|
through education, financial stability, health, and nonprofit |
|
sector capacity; to that end, they mobilize thousands of volunteers |
|
each year and raise hundreds of millions of dollars, reinvesting |
|
the money to drive measurable change in the communities they serve; |
|
and |
|
WHEREAS, For the past two decades, 2-1-1 Texas has assisted |
|
countless residents in navigating a wide range of agencies and |
|
programs to get the services they need, and in so doing, it is |
|
helping build a brighter future for all; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas |
|
Legislature hereby commemorate the 20th anniversary of 2-1-1 Texas |
|
and extend to United Way staff, volunteers, and donors sincere |
|
gratitude for their contributions to the program and to the State of |
|
Texas. |
