R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, Fire engineer Anastacio Urbina Jr. of the Galveston |
|
Fire Department was presented with the Firefighter of the Year |
|
award from the Rotary Club of Galveston in February 2023; and |
|
WHEREAS, Each year, the Rotary Club of Galveston honors local |
|
leaders for their service to the community; there are five |
|
vocational awards in total, and Mr. Urbina was selected in the |
|
firefighter category; and |
|
WHEREAS, A native of Galveston, Mr. Urbina completed the fire |
|
academy program at the College of the Mainland in Texas City in |
|
1997, and he began his career with the Galveston Fire Department the |
|
following year; he served as a firefighter on Engine 1 for nearly a |
|
decade, and he was promoted to engineer in 2005; he currently drives |
|
Engine 7, and his many responsibilities include maintaining the |
|
fire truck, checking equipment, and operating the pump and portable |
|
tools; and |
|
WHEREAS, Among his many achievements, Mr. Urbina received a |
|
Hero's Award from the 100 Club in 2009 for saving two lives with |
|
three of his fellow firefighters; he became a member and |
|
coordinator of the Galveston Fire Department Honor Guard in 2000, |
|
and he has played an instrumental role in educating local youth as |
|
well as the wider community about fire safety; and |
|
WHEREAS, Through his skill and dedication to duty, Anastacio |
|
Urbina exemplifies the highest ideals of his profession, and he may |
|
indeed reflect with pride on this well-deserved recognition; now, |
|
therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas |
|
Legislature hereby congratulate fire engineer Anastacio Urbina Jr. |
|
on his receipt of the Firefighter of the Year award from the Rotary |
|
Club of Galveston and extend to him sincere best wishes for the |
|
future; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for Mr. Urbina as an expression of high regard by the Texas |
|
House of Representatives. |
