R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, Dr. Fozia Ali, a faculty member in the Department of |
|
|
Family and Community Medicine at The University of Texas Health |
|
|
Science Center at San Antonio, is serving as Physician of the Day at |
|
|
the State Capitol on March 14, 2023; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, After graduating from Allama Iqbal Medical College |
|
|
in Lahore, Pakistan, Dr. Ali moved to San Antonio to complete her |
|
|
family medicine residency at UT Health San Antonio, where she |
|
|
served as chief resident and received the Resident Teacher Award |
|
|
from the Society of Teachers of Family Medicine; she joined the |
|
|
faculty of the Department of Family and Community Medicine in 2011 |
|
|
and has since taught and mentored residents in family medicine and |
|
|
other medical students at the university; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Dr. Ali specializes in women's health and obesity |
|
|
medicine, and her clinical interest in weight management led her to |
|
|
become a diplomate of the American Board of Obesity Medicine in |
|
|
2015; she also participates in and oversees quality improvement |
|
|
projects at the Family Health Center, and she is an active member of |
|
|
the Bexar County Translational Advisory Board; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Dr. Fozia Ali has demonstrated a profound |
|
|
dedication to her field and to the health and well-being of her |
|
|
fellow citizens, and it is a pleasure to welcome her to the State |
|
|
Capitol; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby honor Dr. Fozia Ali for her participation in the |
|
|
Physician of the Day program and extend to her sincere best wishes |
|
|
for the future; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for Dr. Ali as an expression of high regard by the Texas |
|
|
House of Representatives. |
