R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Members of the Spark Change Project are celebrating
  Spark Change Day on March 25, 2023; and
         WHEREAS, Established in 2020, the Spark Change Project was
  founded by Dr. Courtney Robinson, the executive director of the
  Excellence and Advancement Foundation, and Julia Cuba Lewis, the
  chief executive officer of Girls Empowerment Network; the
  organization strives to empower young women of color to advocate
  for positive social change; and
         WHEREAS, The Spark Change Project recruits, hires, trains,
  and mentors high school students to serve as peer facilitators;
  through the program, participants help address important issues in
  their communities and support causes they are passionate about,
  including gender and racial justice; they also share their
  knowledge and experience by helping to facilitate discussions at
  town hall events and by providing written and spoken testimonies to
  the Texas Legislature; and
         WHEREAS, Participants in the Spark Change Project further
  distinguish themselves through their involvement in Spark Change
  Day, an advocacy event at the State Capitol that features a policy
  agenda, discussions on key topics, and presentations and panels
  from trailblazing women; attendees also engage in one-on-one
  conversations with local leaders; during the summer, the
  organization hosts Spark Change Camp, where peer facilitators help
  train others to become activists in their communities; and
         WHEREAS, The outstanding young Texans who participate in the
  Spark Change Project have set an inspiring example of leadership
  and political engagement, and they are indeed deserving of special
  recognition for their efforts to make the Lone Star State an even
  better place in which to live; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas
  Legislature hereby commemorate Spark Change Day and extend to all
  those affiliated with the program sincere best wishes for continued
  success in their important work; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for the Spark Change Project as an expression of high
  regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
