R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, Doris Speer is retiring as Tomball city secretary on |
|
March 1, 2023, drawing to a close a notable career with the |
|
municipality that has spanned more than three decades; and |
|
WHEREAS, In 1990, Ms. Speer joined the City of Tomball as |
|
assistant city secretary, a position she ably held for 13 years; she |
|
was promoted to city secretary in 2003, and over the course of her |
|
exemplary tenure, she has overseen everything from public meeting |
|
agendas to elections, and she has managed the city's records; |
|
additionally, she has provided crucial support to the mayor, the |
|
city council, and a multitude of city departments; during her 33 |
|
years as a city employee, she has served five mayors and seven city |
|
managers; and |
|
WHEREAS, Ms. Speer holds a designation as a Master Municipal |
|
Clerk and a bachelor's degree in business administration; a leader |
|
in her profession, she is an active member of the Texas Municipal |
|
Clerks Association and has previously served on the executive board |
|
of the TMCA Salt Grass Chapter; in 2019, she was recognized as |
|
Outstanding Municipal Clerk of the Year; and |
|
WHEREAS, Doris Speer's dedication, professionalism, and |
|
commitment to public service have greatly benefited the people of |
|
Tomball and earned her the respect and admiration of her peers, and |
|
she may indeed reflect with pride on a career well spent as she |
|
embarks on the next exciting chapter of her life; now, therefore, be |
|
it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas |
|
Legislature hereby congratulate Doris Speer on her retirement from |
|
the City of Tomball and extend to her sincere best wishes for the |
|
future; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for Ms. Speer as an expression of high regard by the Texas |
|
House of Representatives. |
