R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, The Tomball Memorial High School cheerleading team |
|
|
proved itself one of the finest in Texas by winning the 6A Division |
|
|
1 title at the 2023 University Interscholastic League Spirit State |
|
|
Championships; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Competing from January 12 through 14 at the Fort |
|
|
Worth Convention Center, the Tomball Memorial cheerleaders opened |
|
|
with an outstanding preliminary-round performance; entering the |
|
|
finals in third place, the Wildcats demonstrated tremendous |
|
|
resolve, posting scores of 45.53 and 41.93 in the Fight Song/Band |
|
|
Chant and Crowd Leading events for an overall score of 87.47; |
|
|
emerging triumphant in its first state meet at the 6A Division 1 |
|
|
level, Tomball Memorial bested its closest foes by a margin of 2.1 |
|
|
points to claim the school's inaugural state cheerleading crown; |
|
|
and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Excelling with a true team effort, the Wildcats |
|
|
received valuable contributions from each member of the roster as |
|
|
they pursued their goal of becoming state champions; these talented |
|
|
student-athletes were ably led by head coach Sarah Ellison, who has |
|
|
directed the Wildcats to second-place, fourth-place, and |
|
|
first-place state showings since taking the helm of the program, |
|
|
and the team also benefited from the guidance of assistant coaches |
|
|
Jennifer Koster and Rebecca Weverka; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Winning a state championship represents the |
|
|
culmination of countless hours of hard work and an unwavering |
|
|
commitment to excellence, and the members of the Tomball Memorial |
|
|
cheerleading team will treasure the memory of this accomplishment |
|
|
for the rest of their lives; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby congratulate the Tomball Memorial High School |
|
|
cheerleading team on winning the 6A Division 1 title at the 2023 UIL |
|
|
Spirit State Championships and extend to all associated with the |
|
|
team sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for the Wildcats as an expression of high regard by the |
|
|
Texas House of Representatives. |
