R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, A caring and generous life drew to a close with the
  passing of Norma Vela Segovia of Mission on July 9, 2022, at the age
  of 66; and
         WHEREAS, The daughter of Ramiro and Hermila Vela, Norma
  Segovia was born on June 21, 1956; she graduated from La Joya High
  School in 1974 and continued her education at Pan American
  University, where she earned a degree in speech pathology; and
         WHEREAS, Dedicated to helping students with speech
  impediments, Mrs. Segovia enjoyed a rewarding career as a speech
  pathologist with the Mission Consolidated Independent School
  District that spanned three decades; following her retirement, she
  worked in the private sector; and
         WHEREAS, In 1979, she married Raymundo Segovia, and the
  couple shared 28 years of marriage, before Mr. Segovia's death in
  2007; Mrs. Segovia was a loving mother to her three children, Ramon,
  Ramiro, and Rebekah, and a doting grandmother to her eight
  grandchildren; and
         WHEREAS, Deeply dedicated to her family and her faith, Norma
  Segovia was a source of joy to all who shared in the richness of her
  life, and they will forever hold her close in their hearts; now,
  therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas
  Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of Norma Vela Segovia
  and extend sincere sympathy to the members of her family: to her
  sons, Ramon Segovia and his wife, Avelina, and Ramiro Segovia and
  his wife, Segovia; to her daughter, Rebekah Menchaca, and her
  husband, Jorge; to her grandchildren, Isabella, Ryan, Raelynn, Ray,
  Roman, Max, Alina, and Emma; to her sisters, Cynthia Vela and Debra
  Vela-Leal and her husband, Esiquio; to her mother-in-law, Dolores
  Segovia; to her brother-in-law, Raul Segovia, and his wife, Melly;
  to her sisters-in-law, Margaret Rodriguez and her husband, Oscar,
  Mary Ann Vela and her husband, JJ, Ramona Espinoza and her husband,
  Gene, and Maggie Vallejo and her husband, John; to her companion,
  Ramiro Zamora; and to her other friends and relatives; and, be it
  further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for her family and that when the Texas House of
  Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Norma
  Segovia.
