R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, The Harlandale Sunshine Pantry in San Antonio has |
|
made a meaningful difference in the lives of countless people in |
|
need; and |
|
WHEREAS, With the motto, "When you can't find the sunshine, |
|
be the sunshine," the Harlandale Sunshine Pantry was established in |
|
2020 by sisters Lotus Rios and Marissa Gutierrez; it is a |
|
mutual-aid, self-service community pantry that provides food as |
|
well as basic necessities, including diapers and hygiene products, |
|
to individuals in the Southside area of San Antonio; it also hosts |
|
monthly produce giveaways; and |
|
WHEREAS, The pantry is funded through donations, though |
|
Ms. Rios will sometimes stock the pantry out of her own pocket; the |
|
organization benefited from a $5,555 grant from the Ingram Park |
|
Auto Center, which allowed for the purchase of tents, warming |
|
blankets, and additional food supplies; and |
|
WHEREAS, True to its mission, the Harlandale Sunshine Pantry |
|
has helped Southside residents build brighter futures, and it is a |
|
pleasure to join in honoring the organization for its exceptional |
|
service to the community; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas |
|
Legislature hereby commend the Harlandale Sunshine Pantry for its |
|
vital contributions to the community and extend to Lotus Rios and |
|
Marissa Gutierrez sincere best wishes for continued success with |
|
their important work; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for the Harlandale Sunshine Pantry as an expression of |
|
high regard by the Texas House of Representatives. |
