R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Veteran Females United has rendered exceptional
  support to the military community, and its mission to empower and
  support women veterans truly merits special recognition; and
         WHEREAS, Established in 2013 as a university student
  organization and later incorporated in 2016, VFU is a
  volunteer-driven nonprofit that helps equip female veterans with
  the tools they need to build successful lives; it has since expanded
  its services across the Rio Grande Valley and into Central Texas;
  among its outreach services, VFU provides peer-to-peer coaching,
  family wellness initiatives, and meetings that create a safe place
  for veterans and loved ones to share ideas and experiences; and
         WHEREAS, With a number totaling more than 190,000, Texas is
  home to one of the largest populations of female veterans in the
  United States; women have served in every branch of the military and
  on the front lines, providing critical support services; and
         WHEREAS, Women veterans often experience gender bias, and
  they face challenges in transitioning to civilian life and securing
  employment and access to health care; in 2016 at Veterans Park in
  Brownsville, VFU purchased and established a statue of a female
  veteran that stands in tribute to all women who have served in the
  U.S. armed forces; and
         WHEREAS, VFU members demonstrate leadership, resilience, and
  a strong commitment to advocacy in behalf of their fellow veterans,
  and the organization has made a positive difference in the lives of
  many women who have bravely served their country; now, therefore,
  be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas
  Legislature hereby commend Veteran Females United for its
  exceptional support to the military community and extend to all
  those associated with VFU sincere best wishes for continued success
  with their important work; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for the organization as an expression of high regard by the
  Texas House of Representatives.
