R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, David Cabrera is retiring from the Texas Department |
|
of Public Safety in 2023, drawing to a close a distinguished career |
|
with the agency that has spanned more than a quarter century; and |
|
WHEREAS, Mr. Cabrera has served DPS as assistant chief with |
|
the Intelligence and Counterterrorism Division since 2021; he has |
|
worked closely with telecommunication operators, tactical |
|
intelligence operators, and their chain of command to provide |
|
critical public safety communications, enhance interoperable |
|
communications, and keep citizens apprised in emergency |
|
situations; and |
|
WHEREAS, Initially hired by DPS as a trooper in 1997, |
|
Mr. Cabrera was stationed in Cotulla and Pearsall; rising steadily |
|
through the ranks, he went on to serve with the Criminal |
|
Investigations Division before joining the Intelligence and |
|
Counterterrorism Division; he served as the major of the Texas |
|
Fusion Center and as regional director of the Capitol Region; |
|
before joining DPS, he was employed by the Pearsall Police |
|
Department for nine years, attaining the rank of sergeant; and |
|
WHEREAS, Through his leadership, professionalism, and deep |
|
commitment to the vital mission of DPS, David Cabrera has greatly |
|
benefited his fellow Texans, and he may indeed reflect with pride on |
|
a career well spent; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas |
|
Legislature hereby congratulate David Cabrera on his retirement |
|
from the Texas Department of Public Safety and extend to him sincere |
|
best wishes for the future; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for Mr. Cabrera as an expression of high regard by the |
|
Texas House of Representatives. |
