R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, Members of the Texas Humane Legislation Network are |
|
|
gathering at the State Capitol on March 23, 2023; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Founded by Texans for Texas Animals in 1975, the |
|
|
Texas Humane Legislation Network strives to protect animals through |
|
|
advocacy and education initiatives; the organization is composed of |
|
|
more than 27,000 members and donors, including animal shelter and |
|
|
rescue workers and law enforcement personnel, and is led by a board |
|
|
of directors encompassing a variety of animal law experts; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, A nonpartisan entity, THLN collaborates with |
|
|
elected officials in seeking enforceable anti-cruelty measures; |
|
|
its members also work closely with stakeholders such as |
|
|
veterinarians, shelter and sanctuary directors, animal control |
|
|
officers, and prosecutors and judges at the local, state, and |
|
|
federal levels; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, For nearly half a century, THLN has worked |
|
|
tirelessly to improve the welfare of animals throughout the Lone |
|
|
Star State, and all those associated with the organization are |
|
|
indeed deserving of commendation for their myriad contributions; |
|
|
now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby recognize March 23, 2023, as Texas Humane |
|
|
Legislation Network Day at the State Capitol and extend a warm |
|
|
welcome to the visiting delegation; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for THLN as an expression of high regard by the Texas House |
|
|
of Representatives. |
