R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, The City of Richardson was honored with the 2022
  Category 2 National Night Out award by the National Association of
  Town Watch, providing a fitting opportunity to recognize the
  Richardson Police Department Community Relations Unit for its
  contributions in organizing this annual campaign; and
         WHEREAS, National Night Out is designed to heighten crime
  prevention awareness, generate support for local anti-crime
  programs, and strengthen neighborhood spirit and partnerships
  between police and the community; cities and towns across the
  country celebrate the night with a variety of events, such as block
  parties, cookouts, parades, festivals, and safety fairs; and
         WHEREAS, For their National Night Out efforts in 2022, the
  Richardson Police Department and the City of Richardson received
  first place in the country in the category for city populations
  between 100,000 and 300,000; the award is given based on citizen
  participation, law enforcement involvement, organization, and
  quality of the activities; and
         WHEREAS, Richardson has taken part in the National Night Out
  campaign for more than three decades; the Community Relations Unit
  of the Richardson PD coordinates the program each year,
  collaborating with city officials, the local fire department,
  neighborhoods, and businesses to host the festivities; and
         WHEREAS, The Richardson PD Community Relations Unit is led by
  unit supervisor Sergeant Michelle Hall and receives additional
  support from Officers Mike Scroggins, Raul Reyes, David
  Beregszaszy, and Tommy Davis; among its many duties, the unit
  provides crime prevention education to the community, conducts the
  annual Citizen Police Academy, and assists homeowners
  associations, apartment complex managers, and businesses in
  striving for a crime free environment; and
         WHEREAS, By organizing this important campaign, the members
  of the Richardson Police Department Community Relations Unit have
  demonstrated their commitment to building a stronger and safer
  community, and they are indeed deserving of this prestigious honor;
  now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate the Community Relations Unit of the
  Richardson Police Department on receiving the 2022 Category 2
  National Night Out award from the National Association of Town
  Watch and extend to the unit and all those associated with the
  department sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for the Community Relations Unit as an expression of high
  regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
