R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, Peggy Jean Ford served her fellow Texans as an |
|
intern in the office of State Representative Christina Morales on |
|
March 8, 2023, and she recently helped her basketball team win third |
|
place at a Special Olympics competition; and |
|
WHEREAS, During her internship, P.J. Ford gained experience |
|
in the field of public service and learned more about the |
|
legislative process and the issues facing citizens of the Lone Star |
|
State; and |
|
WHEREAS, A talented athlete, Ms. Ford has participated in |
|
Special Olympics for nearly two and a half decades, competing in |
|
basketball, softball, bocce, powerlifting, aquatics, and bowling; |
|
she has won hundreds of medals in area, regional, and state |
|
competitions; and |
|
WHEREAS, Ms. Ford has further distinguished herself as a |
|
passionate advocate for individuals with intellectual |
|
disabilities, and in 2013, she became a member of the Special |
|
Olympics Texas Global Messengers and the Athlete Leadership |
|
Program; during her leisure hours, she enjoys cooking, baking, and |
|
spending time with her loved ones; in the future, she hopes to |
|
establish her own gluten-free bakery; and |
|
WHEREAS, P.J. Ford has demonstrated remarkable skill and |
|
dedication in all her endeavors, and she is indeed deserving of |
|
special recognition for her many achievements; now, therefore, be |
|
it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas |
|
Legislature hereby commend Peggy Jean Ford for her service as a |
|
legislative intern in the office of State Representative Christina |
|
Morales and congratulate her on her success as a Special Olympics |
|
athlete; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for Ms. Ford as an expression of high regard by the Texas |
|
House of Representatives. |
