R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, Bellaire Little League celebrated the 70th |
|
anniversary of its founding as part of its 2023 opening day |
|
ceremonies on March 4; and |
|
WHEREAS, Each spring, hundreds of young athletes ages 4 to 12 |
|
join the league's baseball teams; participants on each of the 52 |
|
ballclubs learn the fundamentals of the sport as well as important |
|
values such as loyalty, dedication, teamwork, and good |
|
sportsmanship; and |
|
WHEREAS, Over the years, Bellaire Little League has enjoyed |
|
an outstanding record of achievement; a BLL team from 2000 was |
|
crowned national champion at the Little League World Series, a feat |
|
commemorated on the Bellaire water tower; and |
|
WHEREAS, This community-based, volunteer-powered |
|
organization has benefited from the contributions of numerous area |
|
residents since it was first established; today, that tradition of |
|
service is being carried on by the league's board of directors under |
|
the leadership of current president Sam Dagley, as well the many |
|
other individuals who donate their time and talents to make BLL a |
|
success; and |
|
WHEREAS, By providing young people of all skill levels with a |
|
valuable recreational outlet and introducing them to the |
|
character-building opportunities presented by athletic |
|
competition, Bellaire Little League has made an important and |
|
positive difference in the lives of countless young Texans; now, |
|
therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas |
|
Legislature hereby commemorate the 70th anniversary of Bellaire |
|
Little League and extend to all those associated with the league |
|
sincere appreciation for their efforts; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for the league as an expression of high regard by the Texas |
|
House of Representatives. |
