R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, Members of Texas Tea Party Republican Women are |
|
|
celebrating the organization's 30th anniversary on March 30, 2023; |
|
|
and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Established in 1993 by Peggy Cox, Susan Darbyshire, |
|
|
and Elvie Kingston, TTPRW is an active, conservative women's |
|
|
organization working to preserve and promote the traditional |
|
|
principles of the Republican Party; the three founders named the |
|
|
group in tribute to the women patriots of the American Revolution |
|
|
who boycotted English tea and worked alongside their husbands to |
|
|
help form a new nation; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Participants in Texas Tea Party Republican Women |
|
|
give generously of their time, talents, and financial resources to |
|
|
promote an informed electorate and to foster civic engagement and |
|
|
political participation; in addition, TTPRW helps fund Republican |
|
|
campaigns at the state and local levels; over the years, the group's |
|
|
members have participated in many phone banks, surveys, and voter |
|
|
registration efforts, and they have supported a number of worthy |
|
|
nonprofit organizations; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Within a year of its affiliation with the Texas |
|
|
Federation of Republican Women in 1996, TTPRW received the |
|
|
federation's First Place Certificate of Recognition for nearly |
|
|
18,000 campaign hours worked, and the group has received numerous |
|
|
other honors from the TFRW, including the Elephant Stampede Award |
|
|
for growth in 2006; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Through their grassroots activism, members of Texas |
|
|
Tea Party Republican Women have made a lasting difference in their |
|
|
community, state, and nation, and they may take justifiable pride |
|
|
in their rich history of civic engagement; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby congratulate Texas Tea Party Republican Women on |
|
|
the occasion of its 30th anniversary and extend to the group sincere |
|
|
best wishes for the future; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for the organization as an expression of high regard by the |
|
|
Texas House of Representatives. |
