R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, Memories of a life filled with joyful times and |
|
meaningful accomplishments remain to comfort the family and friends |
|
of Minerva Rodriguez Lopez of Robstown, who passed away on June 26, |
|
2022, at the age of 84; and |
|
WHEREAS, The daughter of Nicholas and Maria Elena Gonzales |
|
Rodriguez, the former Minerva Rodriguez was born in Robstown on |
|
February 4, 1938, and she grew up with the companionship of four |
|
siblings, Nicholas, Ramiro, Armando, and Maria Elena; and |
|
WHEREAS, Mrs. Lopez was a cofounder of Lopez Broadcasting, |
|
where she enjoyed a rewarding career that spanned more than three |
|
decades, and she cofounded Cotton Broadcasting with her husband, |
|
Humberto Lozano Lopez, and son Carlos Lopez in 1985; four years |
|
later, the trio established KMIQ Majic Tejano, one of the first |
|
Spanish-language FM radio stations in the nation, and they |
|
subsequently founded the KHMC Majic Tejano station in Victoria; |
|
they went on to establish KLMO Tejano in San Antonio as well as a |
|
number of broadcasting stations in Corpus Christi, and they found |
|
further success in the television industry; and |
|
WHEREAS, Mrs. Lopez shared 55 years of marriage with her |
|
husband before Mr. Lopez's passing in 2011; in addition to her son |
|
Carlos, she took great pride in their 11 other children, Mario |
|
Humberto, Luis Homero, Larry, Manuel, Humberto, Ernest, Mena Lamar, |
|
Melinda, Ray, Lisa, and Mary Helen, and over the years, her |
|
treasured family grew to include 39 grandchildren and 31 |
|
great-grandchildren; sustained by a deep faith, she was a devoted |
|
parishioner of St. Anthony Church; and |
|
WHEREAS, Minerva Lopez lived a caring and purposeful life, |
|
and she will forever be a source of inspiration to those who were |
|
fortunate enough to know her; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas |
|
Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of Minerva Rodriguez |
|
Lopez and extend heartfelt sympathy to all who mourn her passing; |
|
and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for her family and that when the Texas House of |
|
Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Minerva |
|
Lopez. |
