R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, Debbie Gillespie is concluding her tenure on the |
|
board of trustees of the Frisco Independent School District in June |
|
2023, drawing to a close more than a decade of outstanding service |
|
to the district; and |
|
WHEREAS, Since first joining the board in 2011, Ms. Gillespie |
|
has served as the Place 5 representative and as the board's vice |
|
president and secretary; she was a member of two FISD bond |
|
committees in 2003 and 2006, and she has held numerous leadership |
|
positions with the Frisco Council of PTAs and school PTAs and PTOs; |
|
she has also served as an ex-officio board member of the Frisco |
|
Education Foundation and on the Frisco High School Band Booster |
|
Club board; and |
|
WHEREAS, In September 2022, Ms. Gillespie assumed the role of |
|
president of the Texas Association of School Boards, a nonprofit |
|
association that serves and represents school boards across the |
|
state; she was first elected to the board of TASB as the |
|
representative for Region 10, Place A, in 2014, and she later served |
|
as its second vice president; and |
|
WHEREAS, Ms. Gillespie is a longtime community leader who has |
|
benefited many organizations, including the National Charity |
|
League, the Young Men's Service League, the Frisco Women's League, |
|
and Frisco Family Services, through her involvement; in all her |
|
endeavors, she enjoys the love and support of her husband, Dane |
|
Gillespie, and their two children, Caitlin and Connor; and |
|
WHEREAS, Debbie Gillespie's hard work, professionalism, and |
|
commitment to excellence have greatly benefited the students of |
|
Frisco ISD and earned her the respect and admiration of her fellow |
|
trustees, and her contributions will resonate in the community for |
|
years to come; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas |
|
Legislature hereby honor Debbie Gillespie for her service on the |
|
Frisco ISD Board of Trustees and extend to her sincere best wishes |
|
for continued success as president of the Texas Association of |
|
School Boards; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for Ms. Gillespie as an expression of high regard by the |
|
Texas House of Representatives. |
