R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, Mariah Rodriguez was honored by the J. T. & Margaret |
|
|
Talkington Boys & Girls Club in Lubbock as its Youth of the Year for |
|
|
2023; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, A member of the organization since 2014, |
|
|
Ms. Rodriguez has greatly benefited both the Talkington and John |
|
|
Wilson Boys & Girls Clubs through her involvement, and she was |
|
|
promoted to a staff member role in 2021; outside of the |
|
|
organization, she has volunteered her time as a catechism teacher |
|
|
at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church and as a member of the ABC |
|
|
Pro Rodeo Sweethearts; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Ms. Rodriguez is a student at Lubbock High School, |
|
|
where she has distinguished herself by participating in such |
|
|
extracurricular activities as cheerleading, choir, HOSA, and the |
|
|
National Honor Society; she also belongs to her school's Rough |
|
|
Riders and Madrigals groups, and she has served her peers as a |
|
|
member of the student council since 2020; in addition, she has |
|
|
excelled academically and earned high honors for maintaining a |
|
|
grade point average of above 3.5; she was previously recognized |
|
|
with her school's Outstanding Pianist award in 2021, and earlier |
|
|
this year, she was selected for the Texas All-State Treble Choir by |
|
|
the Texas Music Educators Association; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, After graduating, Ms. Rodriguez looks forward to |
|
|
pursuing her dream of becoming a pharmacist; she has acquired |
|
|
valuable experience as an intern at Covenant Medical Center and |
|
|
United Pharmacy, and she has plans to study at South Plains College |
|
|
before attending pharmacy school at a four-year university; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Mariah Rodriguez has demonstrated commendable |
|
|
drive, discipline, and maturity in working toward her goals, and |
|
|
she may indeed take great pride in this prestigious recognition as |
|
|
she looks ahead to a future bright with promise; now, therefore, be |
|
|
it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby congratulate Mariah Rodriguez on her selection |
|
|
as the 2023 Youth of the Year by the J. T. & Margaret Talkington Boys & |
|
|
Girls Club in Lubbock and extend to her sincere best wishes for |
|
|
continued success in all her endeavors; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for Ms. Rodriguez as an expression of high regard by the |
|
|
Texas House of Representatives. |
