R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Members of the Texas Association of Mexican American
  Chambers of Commerce are gathering in Austin on April 6, 2023, in
  celebration of Tejano Day at the State Capitol; and
         WHEREAS, Established in 1975, TAMACC is a nonprofit
  organization dedicated to promoting business leadership, creating
  economic opportunity, and advocating for the Hispanic business
  community and minority-owned companies; the first Hispanic
  chambers were established in Texas, and TAMACC is considered the
  first statewide Hispanic chamber; and
         WHEREAS, TAMACC provides its member chambers with leadership
  development and media training as well as preparation programs for
  new boards of directors; following the onset of the COVID-19
  pandemic, the organization offered valuable resources and
  education to business owners and workers in both English and
  Spanish; and
         WHEREAS, During a very busy 2022, TAMACC hosted the inaugural
  TAMACC Hispanic Leadership and Business Summit and the first Pancho
  Medrano Legislative Summit; it engaged with other minority business
  organizations and State Senator Royce West to promote improvements
  to the Historically Underutilized Business program; moreover, it
  collaborated with Texas State University in a number of areas,
  including the provision of small business resources through the
  Scale-Up Program and public health education on the risks of
  vaccine hesitancy; it focused extensively on workplace safety, and
  it launched a new speaker series, among many other initiatives; and
         WHEREAS, While supporting its members, TAMACC strives to
  raise awareness of the historic contributions of Tejano and Tejana
  business owners and entrepreneurs, as well as to highlight the
  richness of Hispanic culture and the achievements of the Hispanic
  community in advancing social and political progress; the
  organization's Tejano Day observance coincides with the
  anniversary of the date in 1813 when Tejano leaders issued the first
  declaration of Texas independence; and
         WHEREAS, For nearly half a century, the Texas Association of
  Mexican American Chambers of Commerce has worked to strengthen the
  Hispanic business community, and in so doing, it has made the Lone
  Star State an even more prosperous and dynamic place for all; now,
  therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas
  Legislature hereby honor the Texas Association of Mexican American
  Chambers of Commerce on the occasion of Tejano Day at the State
  Capitol and extend to all those participating in the event sincere
  best wishes for an enjoyable and productive visit to Austin; and, be
  it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for the organization as an expression of high regard by the
  Texas House of Representatives.
