R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, All who shared in the life of Melvin Jay Meadows of
  Cottondale were deeply saddened by his passing on March 31, 2023, at
  the age of 85; and
         WHEREAS, Melvin Meadows was born in Cottondale on July 13,
  1937, to Tom and Ovella Meadows; he grew up on his family's ranch
  with the companionship of his sister, Edith, and in 1955, he
  graduated from Paradise High School; and
         WHEREAS, A lifelong rancher and farmer, Mr. Meadows owned and
  operated Meadows Ranch in Cottondale, where he raised livestock and
  grew a variety of crops; active in his community, he served on the
  Paradise Independent School District Board of Trustees, the
  Cottondale Cemetery Association Board of Trustees, and the FSA
  Committee in Decatur; in addition, he was a faithful member of the
  Cottondale Church of Christ; and
         WHEREAS, In all his endeavors, Mr. Meadows enjoyed the love
  and support of his wife, Jannie Lou, with whom he shared 64 years of
  marriage; he was the proud father of three children, Deloris,
  Marsha, and Todd, and with the passing years, he had the privilege
  of seeing his family grow to include nine grandchildren and 10
  great-grandchildren; and
         WHEREAS, Although Melvin Meadows will be deeply missed, he
  has left his family and friends with a wealth of memories that they
  will forever cherish; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas
  Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of Melvin Jay Meadows
  and extend sincere condolences to the members of his family: to his
  wife, Jannie Lou Meadows; to his daughters, Deloris Martin and her
  husband, Davis, and Marsha Foster and her husband, Jay; to his son,
  Todd Meadows, and his wife, Robin; to his grandchildren, Brad
  Martin and his wife, Jennifer, Jana Hamby and her husband, Travis,
  Jerod Foster and his wife, Amanda, Hayley Rife and her husband,
  Adam, Seth Foster and his wife, Rachel, Dalton Meadows and his wife,
  Bethany, Dillon Meadows and his wife, Laken, Danae Meadows, and
  Dustin Meadows; to his great-grandchildren, Brynlee and Bryleigh
  Hamby, Chase and Britton Martin, Owen and Allie Rife, Eva, Lola, and
  Emmy Foster, and Conley Meadows; and to his other relatives and
  friends; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
  Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Melvin
  Meadows.
