R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Keily Guzman of La Joya Early College High School
  closed out her senior year of competition by winning a state title
  at the 2023 Texas High School Women's Powerlifting Association 6A
  State Championships; and
         WHEREAS, Ms. Guzman first competed in powerlifting as a
  junior, winning a district title and achieving fourth place at the
  regional meet and sixth place at state; building on that success in
  2023, she was crowned regional champion and earned a repeat trip to
  the THSWPA state final; and
         WHEREAS, Joining the other top high school lifters in Texas
  at the Comerica Center in Frisco on March 15, Ms. Guzman delivered
  an exceptional performance in the 132-pound weight class; she set a
  state record of 425 pounds in the squat, and she added efforts of
  225 pounds in the bench press and 355 pounds in the dead lift for a
  1,005-pound total that set another state record; and
         WHEREAS, Ms. Guzman is the first student-athlete from La Joya
  Early College High School to claim a state powerlifting title; the
  daughter of Rolando and Deily Guzman of Palmview, she took up weight
  lifting during the COVID-19 pandemic and quickly developed into a
  formidable competitor; and
         WHEREAS, With her championship performance, Keily Guzman has
  brought great pride to her family, school, and community, and she
  will cherish the memories of this outstanding accomplishment for
  the rest of her life; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate Keily Guzman on winning the state
  title in the 132-pound weight class at the 2023 THSWPA 6A State
  Championships and extend to her sincere best wishes for the future;
  and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Ms. Guzman as an expression of high regard by the Texas
  House of Representatives.
