R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, Memories of a life well lived remain to comfort the |
|
family and friends of Stanley James Briers, who passed away on |
|
October 10, 2022; and |
|
WHEREAS, The son of Harry and Mary Briers, Stanley Briers was |
|
born in 1936 in Houston and grew up alongside his six siblings; he |
|
graduated from Saint Stanislaus in Bay St. Louis, Mississippi, in |
|
1955 and continued his education at Tulane University and the |
|
University of Houston; after serving in the U.S. Army for two years, |
|
he returned to Houston and established a successful air |
|
conditioning, electrical, and plumbing company; and |
|
WHEREAS, Active in his professional community, Mr. Briers |
|
held leadership roles with a number of trade associations, |
|
including the Texas State Board of Plumbing Examiners, the |
|
Construction Industry Council, and the Plumbing-Heating-Cooling |
|
Contractors Association; he also served his fellow citizens as a |
|
precinct chair and election judge and as a member of the Knights of |
|
Columbus and the American Legion; and |
|
WHEREAS, Valuing family above all else, Mr. Briers shared a |
|
rewarding marriage with his wife, Carrolyn, that spanned more than |
|
three decades, and he took great pride in his children, Dorothy, |
|
Latane, Tipton, Harry, Kimberly, Kelly, Tammy, and Brandon; with |
|
the passing years, he had the privilege of seeing his family grow to |
|
include 17 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren; in his leisure |
|
time, he enjoyed hunting and racing cars and boats, and he was a |
|
licensed pilot; and |
|
WHEREAS, Admired for his devotion to his family, his |
|
generosity of spirit, and his joyous zest for life, Stanley Briers |
|
enriched the lives of all who knew him, and they will forever hold |
|
him close in their hearts; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas |
|
Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of Stanley James |
|
Briers and extend sincere condolences to his loved ones; and, be it |
|
further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of |
|
Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Stanley |
|
Briers. |
