R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, Christ Episcopal School in Nacogdoches is marking |
|
|
the 75th anniversary of its founding in 2023; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, The school traces its origins back to 1948, when the |
|
|
Reverend Scott Field Baily, then the rector of Christ Episcopal |
|
|
Church, established Christ Episcopal Day School; the first |
|
|
Protestant private school in Nacogdoches, the institution only had |
|
|
a kindergarten program when it first opened, with a prekindergarten |
|
|
program and first-grade class added soon after; initially |
|
|
accredited in 1973, the school operates within the Episcopal |
|
|
Diocese of Texas; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Under the leadership of the head of school, |
|
|
Catherine Fenci Oliver, Christ Episcopal School currently provides |
|
|
a comprehensive Christian education to three-year-olds through |
|
|
fifth-graders; the modern campus features a separate preschool |
|
|
building as well as a library, a computer lab, art and music rooms, |
|
|
a multi-purpose room, and administrative offices; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, For three-quarters of a century, the faculty and |
|
|
staff of Christ Episcopal School have dedicated themselves to |
|
|
meeting the educational needs of their students, and the school has |
|
|
played a vital role in helping many young Texans build a bright and |
|
|
fulfilling future; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby commemorate the 75th anniversary of Christ |
|
|
Episcopal School and extend to all those associated with the school |
|
|
sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for Christ Episcopal School as an expression of high |
|
|
regard by the Texas House of Representatives. |
