R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, The XFL professional football league resumed play in
  2023, and the city of Arlington and nearby areas are integral to its
  operations; and
         WHEREAS, The new owners of the XFL, actor Dwayne Johnson,
  Dany Garcia, and RedBird Capital Partners, purchased the league
  after the COVID-19 pandemic forced the cancellation of the 2020
  season; on July 25, 2022, they selected Arlington to serve as the
  location of the XFL headquarters; moreover, the Dallas-Fort Worth
  area was chosen as a center of operations for all of the league's
  franchises; and
         WHEREAS, Since the opening of the 2023 season, the eight XFL
  teams practice at local venues in North Texas during the week before
  flying to games in the league's host cities; as a result of this
  innovative "hub" arrangement, more than 400 players train and
  receive medical care in the area, and the Metroplex also serves as a
  content creation center, giving teams and players an opportunity to
  build personal brands and engage with fans through social media and
  in-person events; the facilities utilized by the league include
  Choctaw Stadium in Arlington as well as fields operated by the
  Mansfield, Carroll, and Northwest Independent School Districts;
  and
         WHEREAS, Understanding Texans' deep love of football, the XFL
  has located three of its eight teams in the Lone Star State, and
  each benefits from the leadership of head coaches who have enjoyed
  notable success on the gridiron; the Arlington Renegades are led by
  Bob Stoops, the Houston Roughnecks are guided by Wade Phillips, and
  the San Antonio Brahmas are under the direction of Hines Ward; the
  league is also earning well-deserved attention for the essential
  role played by co-owner Dany Garcia, the first woman to own an equal
  or majority ownership stake in a major professional sports league
  in the United States; and
         WHEREAS, The launch of this latest version of the XFL is an
  exciting development for football fans across the country, and
  Arlington and the larger North Texas area provides an outstanding
  location for the league's players, coaches, and staff to live and
  thrive; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate the XFL football league on the
  opening of its headquarters in Arlington and extend to all those
  associated with the league sincere best wishes for the future; and,
  be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for the league as an expression of high regard by the Texas
  House of Representatives.
