R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Members of the Arlington Renegades XFL football team
  are visiting the State Capitol on April 18, 2023, providing a
  fitting opportunity to honor the team as it makes history with its
  inaugural season; and
         WHEREAS, The first professional sports franchise to have
  "Arlington" in its name, the Renegades are one of eight teams
  playing in the XFL, which returned to action in 2023 after ceasing
  operation at the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic; the team,
  which was previously known as the Dallas Renegades, plays its home
  games at Choctaw Stadium; and
         WHEREAS, The Renegades opened their debut season at home on
  February 18; demonstrating remarkable skill and determination, the
  team captured a 22-20 victory over the Las Vegas Vipers, thrilling a
  crowd of more than 12,000 fans; the Renegade players are ably guided
  by celebrated head coach Bob Stoops and the members of his staff;
  and
         WHEREAS, Dedicated to giving back, the organization is
  already serving as a positive force in the community; on the
  occasion of the Martin Luther King Jr. National Day of Service,
  Renegade players volunteered at Mission Arlington and Coach Stoops
  helped deliver meals to local families in need; other events have
  included a cookie distribution event in conjunction with the Girl
  Scouts of Texas and Oklahoma and visits to the Scottish Rite for
  Children hospital in addition to several opportunities for fans to
  meet and interact with players; and
         WHEREAS, The arrival of XFL football in Arlington marks the
  beginning of an exciting new chapter for the city, and it is a
  pleasure to join all those associated with the Renegades in
  commemorating the team's first year in its new hometown; now,
  therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate the Arlington Renegades XFL
  football team on its inaugural season and extend to the players,
  coaches, and staff sincere best wishes for success; and, be it
  further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for the Renegades as an expression of high regard by the
  Texas House of Representatives.
