            |  | R E S O L U T I O N | 
         
            |  | WHEREAS, A life made rich through meaningful service drew to | 
         
            |  | a close with the passing of James Robert Lago of Corpus Christi on | 
         
            |  | March 15, 2023, at the age of 77; and | 
         
            |  | WHEREAS, Born in Gilmer on August 2, 1945, Jim Lago grew up | 
         
            |  | working at his family's cattle operation in addition to having a job | 
         
            |  | delivering newspapers; as a young adult, he was an oil field worker; | 
         
            |  | he went on to serve his country in the U.S. Air Force during the | 
         
            |  | Vietnam War; and | 
         
            |  | WHEREAS, Embarking on a career in broadcasting, Mr. Lago got | 
         
            |  | his start at KLUE in Longview before working at stations in Beaumont | 
         
            |  | and Houston; for more than three decades, he was a mainstay of | 
         
            |  | Corpus Christi radio, first as a DJ for Z95 and later as a | 
         
            |  | conservative talk radio host at KEYS and KKTX; he welcomed opposing | 
         
            |  | views, often disarming guests with his curiosity, humility, and | 
         
            |  | infectious laugh; the host of the Lago in the Morning show, he would | 
         
            |  | end his broadcasts with his trademark signoff, "Have yourself a | 
         
            |  | Blue Bell country day"; in 2016, he was honored with induction into | 
         
            |  | the Texas Radio Hall of Fame; and | 
         
            |  | WHEREAS, In all his endeavors, Mr. Lago benefited from the | 
         
            |  | love and support of his wife, Pamela, and he was the devoted father | 
         
            |  | of three daughters, Christy, Jordan, and Jayme, who preceded her | 
         
            |  | father in death; over the years, he had the pleasure of welcoming | 
         
            |  | into his family five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; in | 
         
            |  | his leisure time, he was a voracious reader, and he loved baseball, | 
         
            |  | especially the Corpus Christi Hooks; and | 
         
            |  | WHEREAS, Although he will be deeply missed, the passage of | 
         
            |  | time will never diminish the joy and love that Jim Lago brought into | 
         
            |  | the lives of all who knew him; now, therefore, be it | 
         
            |  | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas | 
         
            |  | Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of James Robert Lago | 
         
            |  | and extend heartfelt sympathy to the members of his family: to his | 
         
            |  | wife, Pamela; to his daughters, Christy and Jordan; to his | 
         
            |  | grandchildren, Corey and his wife, Ashley, Zoe, Aubry, Brett, and | 
         
            |  | Isaac; to his great-granddaughters, Ava and Ella; to his sisters, | 
         
            |  | Donna and Lenise; and to his many other relatives and friends; and, | 
         
            |  | be it further | 
         
            |  | RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be | 
         
            |  | prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of | 
         
            |  | Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Jim Lago. |
