R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, A life made rich through meaningful service drew to |
|
a close with the passing of Mary Patricia Puig Mueller of Corpus |
|
Christi on April 2, 2023, at the age of 91; and |
|
WHEREAS, The daughter of Dr. Valentine Lawrence Puig and |
|
Louise Payne Puig, the former Patty Puig was born in Laredo on |
|
December 10, 1931; after graduating from The University of Texas at |
|
Austin with a degree in education and a minor in business, she moved |
|
to Corpus Christi, where she began working as an elementary school |
|
teacher and met her future husband, Joe Mueller, with whom she |
|
shared 62 years of marriage before his passing in 2016; and |
|
WHEREAS, Active in her community, Mrs. Mueller held |
|
leadership positions in the Coastal Bend Community Foundation, the |
|
Corpus Christi Chamber of Commerce, the Gulf Coast Council of the |
|
Boy Scouts of America, and the Nueces River Authority; she also |
|
dedicated herself to the Corpus Christi Public Library Foundation |
|
Board and helped raise funds for a new public library in Corpus |
|
Christi; and |
|
WHEREAS, Mrs. Mueller strongly believed that "no one can take |
|
your education away from you," and she and her husband gave |
|
generously of their time and resources to scholarship funds across |
|
Texas; moreover, she served on a number of university councils and |
|
boards, including The University of Texas at Austin's Development |
|
Board and the Texas A&M University Vision 2020 Advisory Council; |
|
and |
|
WHEREAS, Although she will be deeply missed, the passage of |
|
time will never diminish the joy and love that Patty Puig Mueller |
|
brought into the lives of all who knew her; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas |
|
Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of Mary Patricia Puig |
|
Mueller and extend heartfelt condolences to the members of her |
|
family: to her children, Michelle Mueller, Martha |
|
Mueller-Guicciardini and her husband, Federico, Mary Pat "M. P." |
|
Mueller, Paul Mueller and his wife, Beth, and Julianna Clardy and |
|
her husband, Mike; to her sister, Sara Puig Laas; to her brother, |
|
Dick Puig, and his wife, Ingrid; to her grandchildren and |
|
great-grandchildren; and to her many other relatives and friends; |
|
and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for her family and that when the Texas House of |
|
Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Patty Puig |
|
Mueller. |
