R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Delta Alpha Kappa Zeta Chapter in Fort Bend County
  was chartered in the fall of 2022, and in keeping with the proud
  tradition of its parent organization, its members are devoting
  themselves to benefiting their fellow citizens; and
         WHEREAS, The chapter is an affiliate of Zeta Phi Beta
  Sorority, Inc., a historically Black organization established in
  1920 at Howard University; its five founding women envisioned a
  sorority that would raise public consciousness, encourage the
  highest standards of scholastic achievement, and promote unity
  among its members; with hundreds of chapters worldwide, Zeta Phi
  Beta plays a vital role in transforming communities through
  volunteer service and by fostering efforts to bring about social
  and civic change; and
         WHEREAS, Delta Alpha Kappa Zeta Chapter was approved for
  charter by the international president of Zeta Phi Beta on
  September 13, 2022, and the group celebrated its founding with an
  event on November 4 in Sugar Land; the Fort Bend Zetas are dedicated
  to serving area residents by offering a wide range of community
  services, assisting those in need, and providing scholarships to
  deserving students; and
         WHEREAS, The chapter's charter members are Tashi Hickman,
  Natashia Williams, Shana Gunner, Stephanie Wilson, Donna Hodge, Na
  Toshia Joseph, Tawana Lemon, Debra Luckett, Sojourner N. McLemore,
  Veronica Simmons, Chandalyn Williams, Lynette Brown, Affton A.
  Coleman, Meredith Elvoit, and Wynona Bonner; and
         WHEREAS, Devoted to the high ideals of Zeta Phi Beta
  Sorority, Inc., the Fort Bend Zetas are furthering a longstanding
  tradition of service, and it is a privilege to honor them for their
  dedication to making a positive impact in the lives of others; now,
  therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That House of Representatives of the 88th Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate the members of Delta Alpha Kappa
  Zeta Chapter on their organization's founding and extend to all
  those associated with the group sincere best wishes for the future;
  and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Delta Alpha Kappa Zeta Chapter as an expression of high
  regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
