R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, Teshawn Leslie of PSJA Sonia M. Sotomayor Pathways |
|
in Technology Early College High School in the Pharr-San Juan-Alamo |
|
Independent School District has received an Honored National |
|
Teaching Award; and |
|
WHEREAS, Each month, the nonprofit organization Honored |
|
presents the Honored National Teaching Award to a deserving teacher |
|
in an effort to acknowledge and celebrate exemplary educators |
|
across the country; Ms. Leslie was recognized for the significant |
|
impact that she has had on her students' lives, and as the April |
|
2023 Honoree, she also received a $5,000 cash award, a profile on |
|
the organization's website, and a $1,000 gift card to support other |
|
teachers through DonorsChoose.org; and |
|
WHEREAS, Ms. Leslie is currently a human resources |
|
management teacher at Sotomayor High, a school for pregnant and |
|
parenting teens; known for her ability to inspire confidence and |
|
for her engaging classroom environment, she provides guidance, |
|
care, and encouragement to her students while teaching a human |
|
relations course that is designed to help them through real life |
|
situations; and |
|
WHEREAS, Ms. Leslie embarked on her career in education 12 |
|
years ago as an after-school coordinator in La Villa ISD, and she |
|
has taught at Sotomayor High for nearly a decade; she holds a |
|
bachelor's degree from Murray State University and a master's |
|
degree from Colorado State University; and |
|
WHEREAS, With her passion, dedication, and commitment to |
|
excellence, Teshawn Leslie has earned the lasting respect and |
|
admiration of her colleagues and of the many young Texans whose |
|
lives she has forever enriched; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas |
|
Legislature hereby congratulate Teshawn Leslie on receiving an |
|
Honored National Teaching Award and extend to her sincere best |
|
wishes for continued success; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for Ms. Leslie as an expression of high regard by the Texas |
|
House of Representatives. |
