R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, Dr. Brian Woods is retiring as superintendent of the |
|
Northside Independent School District in June 2023, drawing to a |
|
close more than three decades of dedicated service to the district; |
|
and |
|
WHEREAS, Dr. Woods began his career as a social studies |
|
teacher, and he went on to excel in a variety of administrative |
|
roles, including assistant principal, vice principal, principal, |
|
assistant superintendent, and deputy superintendent; and |
|
WHEREAS, Since being appointed superintendent in 2012, |
|
Dr. Woods has provided exemplary leadership to Northside ISD during |
|
an era of notable growth; he has overseen the addition of 13 new |
|
schools and 5 specialized magnet programs in the district, and he |
|
helped achieve voter approval for three bond measures totaling more |
|
than $2.4 billion to fund facility renovations and improvements; as |
|
he concludes his tenure, Northside ISD is the state's fourth |
|
largest school district, serving over 102,000 students with a staff |
|
of 14,000 employees; and |
|
WHEREAS, In recognition of his outstanding achievements, |
|
Dr. Woods was named the 2018 Superintendent of the Year by the Texas |
|
Association of School Boards; he has further contributed to his |
|
professional community in his role as president of the Texas School |
|
Alliance; and |
|
WHEREAS, With his vision, expertise, and commitment to |
|
excellence, Brian Woods has greatly benefited the educational |
|
mission of the Northside Independent School District, and he may |
|
indeed reflect with pride on his many contributions as he begins the |
|
next exciting chapter of his life; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas |
|
Legislature hereby congratulate Dr. Brian Woods on his retirement |
|
from the Northside Independent School District and extend to him |
|
sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for Dr. Woods as an expression of high regard by the Texas |
|
House of Representatives. |
