R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, Coleman Locke was inducted into the American Brahman |
|
Breeders Hall of Fame on March 1, 2023; and |
|
WHEREAS, A fifth-generation rancher, Mr. Locke is the |
|
president of J. D. Hudgins, Inc. and a partner and manager of the |
|
Locke Division of J. D. Hudgins Ranch, a family-run operation in |
|
Hungerford that specializes in American Registered Brahman cattle |
|
and has been breeding beef-type Brahmans since 1908; the ranch has |
|
been annually recognized as one of the 10 largest purebred |
|
producers in the United States by the National Cattlemen's Beef |
|
Association; it runs up to 1,850 head of cattle at any given time |
|
and sells live breeding animals both domestically and |
|
internationally; and |
|
WHEREAS, Mr. Locke is chair of the Texas Animal Health |
|
Commission, an honorary director of the Texas and Southwestern |
|
Cattle Raisers Association, a lifetime member of the Houston |
|
Livestock Show and Rodeo, and lifetime director of the American |
|
Brahman Breeders Association; moreover, he previously served as |
|
president of ABBA and the Texas Brahman Association, as well as |
|
chair of the Texas Beef Council and the Beef Promotion Research |
|
Council of Texas; and |
|
WHEREAS, In all his endeavors, Mr. Locke enjoys the love and |
|
support of his wife, Regina, and he takes great pride in his 4 |
|
children and 12 grandchildren; and |
|
WHEREAS, A longtime leader in his field, Coleman Locke has |
|
distinguished himself in the Lone Star State and beyond through his |
|
extensive experience in the Brahman cattle industry, and he is |
|
indeed deserving of this prestigious honor for his lifetime of |
|
achievement; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas |
|
Legislature hereby congratulate Coleman Locke on his induction into |
|
the American Brahman Breeders Hall of Fame and extend to him sincere |
|
best wishes for continued success; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for Mr. Locke as an expression of high regard by the Texas |
|
House of Representatives. |
