R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, Round Rock gymnast Velandra Brochi of the U.S. Air |
|
|
Force Academy achieved great distinction by winning the all-around |
|
|
title at the 2023 USA Gymnastics Women's Collegiate National |
|
|
Championships; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Joining the nation's top gymnasts from April 6 |
|
|
through 8 at Texas Woman's University in Denton, Ms. Brochi |
|
|
delivered an exceptional performance, scoring a 9.800 in floor |
|
|
exercise and a 9.775 in vault, uneven bars, and balance beam; her |
|
|
final score of 39.125 clinched the all-around gold medal, and she |
|
|
was also selected as a First-Team All-American in the all-around, |
|
|
balance beam, and uneven bars and a Second-Team All-American in the |
|
|
vault; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Ms. Brochi is a sophomore member of the U.S. Air |
|
|
Force Academy women's gymnastics team; her strong showing earlier |
|
|
in the 2023 season earned her recognition as a Mountain Pacific |
|
|
Sports Federation Gymnast of the Week in February; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Velandra Brochi has proven herself one of the |
|
|
premier college gymnasts in the country, and she may indeed reflect |
|
|
with pride on a job well done; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby congratulate Velandra Brochi on winning the |
|
|
all-around title at the 2023 USA Gymnastics Women's Collegiate |
|
|
National Championships and extend to her sincere best wishes for |
|
|
continued success; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for Ms. Brochi as an expression of high regard by the Texas |
|
|
House of Representatives. |
