R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, For more than six decades, Easterseals Rio Grande |
|
|
Valley has worked to provide essential services to individuals with |
|
|
disabilities and their families; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Easterseals RGV is an affiliate of the national |
|
|
nonprofit Easterseals, which traces its roots back to 1919; the |
|
|
organization adopted its current name in 1967, following the |
|
|
overwhelming public support of its Easter "seals" fundraising |
|
|
campaign; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Since its establishment, Easterseals RGV has been |
|
|
committed to improving the quality of life for South Texans with |
|
|
disabilities, and its services include medical rehabilitation, |
|
|
early intervention, child care, and physical, occupational, and |
|
|
speech and hearing therapy; today, the organization assists more |
|
|
than 2,000 children and adults each year; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Easterseals RGV currently offers a number of |
|
|
services and programs designed to help families in the Rio Grande |
|
|
Valley address life's challenges and instill in children the |
|
|
necessary skills and information needed to grow, learn, succeed, |
|
|
and become engaged members of the community, including Parents as |
|
|
Teachers, Home Instruction for Parents of Preschool Youngsters, |
|
|
SafeCare, Project HOPES, BridgingApps, and the Early Childhood |
|
|
Intervention program; the organization recently opened a new Family |
|
|
Resource Center that serves residents of Hidalgo County, and its |
|
|
Child Development Center has earned a Four-Star rating from Texas |
|
|
Rising Star; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Easterseals RGV has excelled in its mission of |
|
|
enhancing opportunities for individuals with disabilities and |
|
|
their families, and in so doing, it is building a more inclusive and |
|
|
equitable community for all; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby honor Easterseals Rio Grande Valley for its |
|
|
service and extend to all those associated with the organization |
|
|
sincere best wishes for continued success with their important |
|
|
work; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for Easterseals RGV as an expression of high regard by the |
|
|
Texas House of Representatives. |
