R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, A group of 11 dedicated students from The University |
|
|
of Texas Rio Grande Valley have rendered outstanding service to the |
|
|
Texas Legislature during the 88th Session as participants in the |
|
|
Rio Grande Valley Legislative Internship Program; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, This initiative offers students at the university an |
|
|
opportunity to learn about the legislative process and to gain |
|
|
valuable experience while putting their skills and knowledge to |
|
|
work; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Each participant is placed with a legislative office |
|
|
and is immersed in an environment that combines academic rigor with |
|
|
real-world responsibility; individuals selected for this |
|
|
prestigious program work full-time during the session and must also |
|
|
complete a six-hour political science course for academic credit; |
|
|
and |
|
|
WHEREAS, This year's class of interns includes Hector Chapa, |
|
|
who is working in the office of Representative Sergio Muñoz Jr., |
|
|
Zeila Chavez in the office of Senator Judith Zaffirini, Lizette |
|
|
Galaviz in the office of Representative Armando Martinez, Mireya |
|
|
Garcia in the office of Representative Erin Gámez, Roberto Garcia |
|
|
in the office of Representative Terry Canales, Anthony Hernandez in |
|
|
the office of Representative Janie Lopez, Karina Lucio in the |
|
|
office of Representative Bobby Guerra, Derek Luna in the office of |
|
|
Representative Oscar Longoria, Sontino Mann in the office of |
|
|
Representative Ryan Guillen, Jocelyne Montelongo in the office of |
|
|
Senator Morgan LaMantia, and Matthew Rodriguez in the office of |
|
|
Senator Chuy Hinojosa; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, The members of this notable group have performed |
|
|
their duties as legislative interns with great skill and diligence, |
|
|
and they are indeed deserving of special recognition for their fine |
|
|
work; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby commend the participants in the Rio Grande |
|
|
Valley Legislative Internship Program for their contributions to |
|
|
the Texas Legislature and extend to them sincere best wishes for |
|
|
continued success in all their endeavors; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for the interns as an expression of high regard by the |
|
|
Texas House of Representatives. |
