R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, Lori Jo Walker of the Calallen Independent School |
|
District received a 2023 Women in Education Award from the |
|
Education Service Center Region 2 at its Outstanding Women in |
|
Education event on March 29, 2023; and |
|
WHEREAS, Mrs. Walker currently serves as secretary of the |
|
Calallen ISD Board of Trustees, a position she has ably held since |
|
she was first elected in November 2014; over the course of her |
|
nine-year tenure, she has demonstrated tremendous passion for |
|
public education through her support of district staff and her |
|
efforts in legislative advocacy; furthermore, she organized |
|
"Stronger Together," a group of stakeholders who work to benefit |
|
Calallen youth; and |
|
WHEREAS, Alongside her duties as a member of the school |
|
board, Mrs. Walker is a successful business owner in the Corpus |
|
Christi area; her previous experience includes working as an |
|
English teacher at Calallen Middle School, where she has also |
|
served as president of the PTA; she holds a bachelor's degree in |
|
English and history from Texas A&M University; and |
|
WHEREAS, Lori Jo Walker has set an outstanding example of |
|
leadership and dedication to which others may aspire, and she is |
|
indeed deserving of this noteworthy honor; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas |
|
Legislature hereby congratulate Lori Jo Walker on her receipt of a |
|
2023 Women in Education Award from the Education Service Center |
|
Region 2 and extend to her sincere best wishes for continued success |
|
in her important work; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for Mrs. Walker as an expression of high regard by the |
|
Texas House of Representatives. |
