R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, Bryan Christian is retiring from the Leander |
|
Independent School District on June 19, 2023, drawing to a close an |
|
exemplary tenure that has spanned two decades; and |
|
WHEREAS, Mr. Christian is the director of bands at Vista |
|
Ridge High School, and under his able leadership, the marching band |
|
claimed a state championship title and earned selection as a Bands |
|
of America Grand National Finalist in 2021; in addition, the band |
|
has appeared as a featured ensemble at the Midwest International |
|
Band and Orchestra Clinic, and the group performed in the 2023 |
|
Tournament of Roses parade; Mr. Christian has also helped the |
|
program garner the prestigious Sudler Shield International |
|
Marching Band Award and the Sudler Flag of Honor International |
|
Concert Band Award from the John Philip Sousa Foundation; and |
|
WHEREAS, A leader in his field, Mr. Christian has served as |
|
vice president of Region 32 of the Texas Music Educators |
|
Association and as vice president of the Servant Leadership |
|
Association for Music; he is also a member of the Phi Beta Mu |
|
International Bandmasters Honor Fraternity; and |
|
WHEREAS, With his dedication, expertise, and commitment to |
|
excellence, Bryan Christian has earned the respect and admiration |
|
of his colleagues and students alike, and he may indeed reflect with |
|
pride on his many accomplishments as he begins the next exciting |
|
chapter of his life; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas |
|
Legislature hereby congratulate Bryan Christian on his retirement |
|
from the Leander Independent School District and that he be |
|
extended sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for Mr. Christian as an expression of high regard by the |
|
Texas House of Representatives. |
