R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, Barrett Lee Rios of Scouts BSA Troop No. 8 in |
|
|
Kingwood has attained the rank of Eagle Scout, and this |
|
|
accomplishment truly merits special recognition; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, The Eagle Scout badge is a significant honor |
|
|
bestowed on only a small fraction of those who enter the scouting |
|
|
movement; in the course of meeting the rank's demanding criteria, |
|
|
Mr. Rios earned the requisite 21 merit badges; he also successfully |
|
|
completed an Eagle Scout project that involved constructing a |
|
|
memorial bench as well as storage shelving and a mobile scoreboard |
|
|
at the Kingwood High School tennis courts; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, The son of Chris and Heather Rios, this fine young |
|
|
Texan has demonstrated outstanding leadership ability throughout |
|
|
his scouting career, serving as a troop guide, historian, and |
|
|
senior patrol leader; he is a recipient of the Arrow of Light Award, |
|
|
and he earned a Bronze Palm and a Gold Palm; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Mr. Rios has further distinguished himself as a |
|
|
student at Kingwood High School, where he has participated in |
|
|
tennis, orchestra, and German club; he plans to study history at The |
|
|
Citadel in Charleston, South Carolina, and pursue an active duty |
|
|
commission in the U.S. Army; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Eagle Scout Rios's dedication to excellence and his |
|
|
perseverance in the pursuit of his goals have proven him worthy to |
|
|
stand among scouting's elite, and he may indeed reflect with pride |
|
|
on a job well done; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby congratulate Barrett Lee Rios on achieving the |
|
|
rank of Eagle Scout and extend to him sincere best wishes for |
|
|
continued success and happiness; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for Mr. Rios as an expression of high regard by the Texas |
|
|
House of Representatives. |
